 These instructions make a pattern cover for note pads 5" x 5" or less in size.  Keeping a pattern on hand makes for quick card stock cutting time when you have a gift to whip up.

1.  Lay the note pad even with a corner and side of a piece of
     cardstock. While applying downward pressure to the note
     pad, run the pen along side of the pad.

2.  Carefully bring the note pad up onto its bound side and
     place it down again onto its opposite side.

3.  While applying downward pressure to the note pad,
     trace both the outer and bottom edges to complete
     the pattern.

4.  Cut it out and write the size/type of note pad the
     pattern is for. Now you can easily cover this
     type note pad over and over again.

5.  Optional:  If you want the resulting note pad cover
     to have a decorative edge, cut the pattern 1/8" to 1/4"
     beyond the drawn line as allowance for deco scissor
     cutting.
