Here are some possible contents for this pouch:
single serving food / drink packages (shown/ 4" wide), chocolate
covered pretzel sticks, Pirouette dessert cookies (shown/ 3" wide),
candy canes, pens (shown/ 2"wide), chinese yo-yos, small
candles and any treat you can package into a long, skinny bag.

1.  Materials:
*One 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock, cut to desired size (see next step)
*Stamps, inks, embellishments
* Shape cutting tool, paper punch or deco scissor (for upper edge)
*Double-sided adhesive OR a glue stick
*scoring tool, see also
Quick Score.

2. The formula for the pattern is as follows: 1 width +1 width +
1 1/2 inches for the body of the pouch.  The additional 1 1/2 inches
becomes the back seam of the pouch.  The length of the pouch is
determined by placing your contents down on the paper, adding
1 1/2 inches to the bottom and removing the excess cardstock
below that point.  In our example, we are not adjusting the length
of the pouch, it will be the full 8 1/2" long. The width is 3".

2 inch wide pouch: 2"+2"+1 1/2" = 5 1/2" (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" remaining)
3 inch wide pouch: 3"+3"+1 1/2"= 7 1/2" (3 1/2" x 8 1/2" remaining)
4 inch wide pouch: 4"+4"+ 1 1/2"=9 1/2" (1 1/2" x 8 1/2" remaining)

3. Measuring from the left edge, score at 3". From that score line,
measure another 3" and score the pouch again. Adjust scoring
lines for the width of the pouch that you are making.

4. The section of cardstock in between the scored lines is the front
    panel of pouch.

5. Stamp and embellish your pouch now, while it is flat: add eyelets,
sew on buttons, etc.  Also shape the upper top edge as desired.
If you are using a Rollagragh® or Stampin' Around® wheel you
can crank out volumes of these pouches quickly!

6. Fold your pouch along score lines to ready it for gluing.  Place
adhesive along the entire length of the bottom edge.  Fold down
the 1 1/2" backseam.  Then place adhesive on the back seam.
Fold the "back"  portion of pouch onto the seam.  If using a glue
stick, place pouch under a book for a few minutes to ensure
    secure gluing.

7.  Variations:  1) Decoratively edge the bottom of the pouch.
   2) Use paper corrugator to ripple the bottom edge of the pouch.
   3) Add a window to the front of the pouch. 4) Use a 12" x 12"
piece of cardstock to make a larger pouch.
